BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, a national chain with 20,000+ team members across 171 locations, faced low engagement on its learning platform: the LMS felt disconnected from the brand’s warm, hospitality-driven identity and was hard to navigate, so employees seldom returned after required training. Creative Learning Manager Elke Bosworth partnered with Wisetail to address the mismatch between the company’s marketing look and its training experience.

They redesigned BJ’s COMPASS with updated branding, friendlier colors, clearer navigation and social features (polls, recognition, profile photos) to make learning inviting and easy to use. The results were dramatic: logins jumped from about 29,082 to 213,668, active users rose from 2,550 to 13,373, module completions climbed from ~7,000 to over 700,000, avatar updates increased ~80%, and recognition messages nearly doubled.
