Enerclic connects 10,000+ meters with Wireless Logic

Enerclic, a manufacturer and integrator of smart metering equipment, faced a challenge when new regulations from Red Eléctrica de España required remote electricity meters to communicate via IP instead of obsolete GSM technology. This change posed significant hurdles in terms of cost, scale, and cybersecurity for their communications. Wireless Logic provided the connectivity and network infrastructure solutions needed to address this compliance issue.

Wireless Logic designed a specific network solution using Conexa SIM cards, which utilized a NAT/PAT translation protocol to allow secure, direct access to meter data without VPN tunnels. This enabled Enerclic to develop their IP Meter device, which ensures compliance and benefits from improved 4G/LTE speed and latency. The solution provides a foundation for upgrading more than 100,000 smart meters in Spain and allows for the monitoring of up to thirty different electricity consumption parameters.
