Vedanta Limited faced significant challenges at its Lanjigarh alumina refinery, including a lack of real-time data visibility that hindered operational efficiency and decision-making. To reduce costs and optimize production amid industry-wide pressures, the company engaged vendor Wipro to implement a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solution to gain insights into key performance indicators and production parameters.

Wipro implemented a state-of-the-art MES solution that integrated disparate data sources, including legacy and new systems. This provided Vedanta with real-time visibility into 890 production parameters and automated reporting. The results included automated lab data, a significant reduction in manual effort for daily reports, and immediate access to critical data that was previously delayed by six hours, enabling better and faster decision-making.
