Wipro digitizes the shopoor for Sesa Sterlite Limited, enabling improved asset utilization and accurate decision-making in production

Sesa Sterlite Ltd., an associate company of Vedanta, faced the challenge of low asset utilization and high costs at its aluminum smelter. To address this, they sought to digitize their shopfloor to gain access to accurate operational data for better decision-making. Wipro implemented a centralized Manufacturing Execution System (MES) using the Ampla solution from Schneider Electric to serve as the core of this transformation.

Wipro's MES integrated process data from plant operations, maintenance, and quality control into a single system. This implementation delivered significant results, including a 30% reduction in costs associated with Anode Effect, a 0.6% increase in asset availability, and an overall profit increase of $0.5 million per month. The solution provided by Wipro enabled real-time monitoring and data-driven decisions, substantially improving plant efficiency.
