Case Study: Thames Water reduces OPEX and modernizes AD infrastructure with Wipro

A Wipro Case Study

Water Utility Replaces Legacy OS, Moves to Cloud-based Server

Thames Water, the UK's largest water and wastewater services provider, faced the challenge of replacing its outdated Active Directory 2003 infrastructure to remain competitive in a newly deregulated market. The legacy system posed a major risk and constrained integration with modern cloud services. Wipro was engaged to help transform their IT infrastructure and mitigate these risks.

Wipro implemented a comprehensive solution that involved a full hardware refresh and a migration to a new Active Directory 2012 environment. This included upgrading DNS and DHCP services, implementing Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) for single sign-on, and consolidating domains. The project was a success, enabling Thames Water to decommission old hardware and reduce its annual operating expenditure by £70,000 while achieving significant productivity gains.
