The UK-Based Energy Company, a major electricity and gas supplier, was struggling with an aging Windows XP virtual desktop environment that caused stability, performance, and scalability issues. Its legacy VDI supported only 3,000 users, relied on more than 75 desktop images, and needed rapid replacement and migration to Windows 7 while expanding to 4,000 users in three months and eventually 7,000 users. Wipro was brought in to deliver a new desktop virtualization platform.

Wipro implemented Wipro Virtuadesk™ on Cisco UCS servers, consolidating the old images into a single Windows 7 golden image and virtualizing more than 200 applications. The solution migrated 4,000 users in under three months, cut VDI total cost of ownership by 25%, reduced deployment time from 6–8 months to 10 weeks, and shortened new VDI provisioning from 1–2 weeks to 1–2 hours. Wipro also doubled desktop stability and performance, improving productivity and reducing support calls.
