The Government of Assam partnered with Wipro to update its National Register of Citizens within a strict one-year deadline set by the Supreme Court. The challenge involved verifying the citizenship of millions of residents amidst poor legacy data availability and the need to operate in difficult terrains across the state.

Wipro developed bespoke business intelligence and case management solutions, including a custom software for document segregation and a massive deployment of IT infrastructure and manpower. This effort resulted in the 100% submission of application forms, the verification of over 6.6 crore documents, and the issuance of 1.44 crore legacy data codes, achieving complete citizen enrolment in a record timeframe with improved fraud detection.
