A major vertically integrated oil and gas company, based in the UK and operating globally, needed to move its OSIsoft PI data management system from an on-premises warehouse to the cloud to handle rising data volumes and cut infrastructure costs. The company also required a zero-downtime transition for this mission-critical environment, and turned to Wipro for help because off-the-shelf migration options were limited.

Wipro migrated the company’s data center to Azure and AWS, upgraded PI components, and used automation, redundancy, and Agile methods to move more than 40 business applications and integrate critical interfaces. In four weeks, Wipro transferred 20 years of archive data, about 60 terabytes, without disrupting operations, delivering 100% availability, improved security, lower latency, and significant reductions in operating and maintenance expenses.
