A Map-Based Safety Application Advances Risk Mitigation at bp

bp’s Remediation Management (RM) group needed a better way to improve safety across remediation operations at retail sites, refineries, and exploration sites, where unsafe barriers, vehicles, and equipment could put workers and contractors at risk. To support this goal, bp partnered with Wipro and used GIS and bp’s One Map geospatial platform to make site survey safety information easier to collect, view, and act on.

Wipro built a map-based site survey application and dashboard that combined survey responses, site images, and geospatial data in near real time. The solution gave users instant access to survey summaries, detailed drill-downs, and “learning opportunity” reports, improving collaboration and safety awareness. As a result, bp gained a more seamless and scalable safety process and now plans to expand the application globally and to other business units.
