United Hospital District, a critical access hospital with three off-site clinics, was operating those clinics as separate entities and wanted to integrate operations. The organization also planned a new work-relative-value-based physician compensation plan and completed a provider-based clinic financial analysis that identified an additional $227,000 in reimbursement if the clinics were converted to provider-based clinics.
Wipfli provided project management and technical support as UHD completed system redesign, testing, attestations, and implementation. The work also included revenue cycle redesign and a switch to Method II billing, which increased outpatient clinic billing and resulted in an additional 15% reimbursement. As a result, UHD completed physician integration, improved reimbursement, and developed a long-term plan for system improvements.
