The Urban Land Institute, a member-supported research and education organization based in Washington, DC, struggled with time-consuming financial reporting as its U.S. District Councils grew to 51 offices. Each month, Finance staff produced about 2,500 pages of reports from Microsoft Dynamics GP and FRx, then manually printed, scanned, emailed, and posted them online. ULI wanted a real-time reporting solution that would be easier for District Councils to use.

Brittenford Systems implemented a Microsoft Reporting Services-based solution that replicated the old reports, added options for filtering by time period and project, and linked recurring account numbers to the correct event titles. The new system launched in ULI’s 2011 Fall meeting and replaced the old generate-print-scan-post process. It gave District Councils secure, on-demand access to financial information, freed up Finance resources, and improved user satisfaction.
