Government Contractor Improves Insight, Reporting With Cloud-Based Project Accounting Solution

Shared Spectrum Company, a 26-person electrical engineering government contractor in Vienna, Virginia, was using Intuit QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel to manage accounting and project work. As its business grew to 16 simultaneous projects, the company struggled to connect financial and project data, took as long as two hours per project to report, and spent about four hours twice a month manually entering employee time for payroll.

Working with Brittenford Systems, Shared Spectrum Company implemented Microsoft Dynamics SL in a cloud-based environment hosted by Data Resolution. The new system brought project management, accounting, and timecard processing into one place, saving 32 hours per month in project accounting and eight hours per month in payroll data entry, while also improving reporting, DCAA compliance, and cash flow.
