Case Study: Indigenous Youth Roots expands access to the Indigenous Youth Reconciliation Barometer with Wintranslation

A Wintranslation Case Study

Indigenous Youth Roots translates 8,600 words across 4 Indigenous languages with Wintranslation

Indigenous Youth Roots needed to translate key findings from their Indigenous Youth Reconciliation Barometer 2024 report to make it accessible to diverse communities. They faced the challenge of accurately translating sensitive content into multiple Indigenous languages while also managing layout within a designed Canva document, all within a nonprofit budget. They engaged the translation vendor Wintranslation for professional translation and typesetting services.

Wintranslation provided a centralized solution, translating 8,600 words into Inuktitut, Ojibway, Michif, and Mi’kmaq and directly typesetting the 36-page "At A Glance" summary in Canva. This ensured visual consistency and accessibility. The collaboration was smooth and well-communicated, allowing Indigenous Youth Roots to efficiently share youth-led research. The project successfully supported language reclamation and made critical findings accessible to Indigenous communities across Canada, honoring the organization's guiding principles.
