WinMagic Enables The Hospital for Sick Children to Protect All Data on Mac and Windows Laptops Without Inconveniencing Busy Medical Staff

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Canada’s most research‑intensive pediatric hospital, needed to protect confidential patient, research and administrative data on increasingly mobile Mac and Windows laptops and removable media without disrupting busy clinical workflows. After a comprehensive proof‑of‑concept, SickKids selected WinMagic’s SecureDoc Enterprise as its single full‑disk encryption solution.

WinMagic deployed SecureDoc with distributed administration, centralized console management and pre‑boot authentication, supporting both Windows and Mac laptops as well as MXI Security hardware‑encrypted USB keys. A two‑month pilot of 25 laptops demonstrated that SecureDoc met all integration, recovery and policy requirements, provided “always‑on” encryption without a second login or degradation in user experience, and enabled SickKids to centrally deploy and manage encryption across the organization.
