University of Guelph Selects WinMagic’s Cost-Effective SecureDoc™ IT Managed Security/Software-as-a-Service Full-Disk Encryption to Protect All Data on Faculty and Staff Laptop

University of Guelph, a comprehensive Canadian university with about 20,000 students and 5,000 faculty and staff, needed a cost‑effective way to protect sensitive data on portable devices as faculty and administrators began taking university information off campus. After evaluating SaaS options, University of Guelph selected WinMagic’s SecureDoc SaaS full‑disk encryption to meet its enterprise requirements for centralized key management, compliance and minimal user disruption.

WinMagic deployed SecureDoc SaaS in a year‑long pilot and then began rolling out the SaaS full‑disk encryption across portable PCs, leveraging cross‑platform support and centralized key escrow so integration with campus infrastructure was not required. The WinMagic solution delivered rapid implementation, low deployment cost at the current device volume, minimal end‑user training, unobtrusive operation and positive user feedback; University of Guelph is expanding SecureDoc to senior management and key administrators.
