Case Study: Atkins achieves fast, high-accuracy sea wall mapping with WingtraOne

Timing low tide to drone map sea armor in the UK

Atkins, a global consultancy firm with deep expertise in coastal infrastructure, needed an efficient way to survey two stretches of sea wall defense in the UK. The challenge included working along a coastline where one take-off and landing area was only exposed at low tide, making traditional fixed-wing operations difficult. Wingtra provided the WingtraOne VTOL fixed-wing drone for the job.

Using WingtraOne with an RX1R II camera, high-end PPK, corridor mapping, and terrain following, Atkins captured 2 cm resolution data over the 4 km project. Wingtra delivered major time savings: each 1 km stretch took about 15 minutes to map, and the entire project including setup was completed in 1.5 hours. The data was also very well received by the Atkins team.
