Survey team maps shifting Maldives sands with ease

Water Solutions Pvt, an offshore survey firm in the Maldives, needed an efficient way to monitor coastal changes on three newly reclaimed islands in South Male’ Atoll. Using WingtraOne, Wingtra’s VTOL mapping drone, they set out to track whether winds and shifting currents were moving shoreline sands and to determine where protection measures might be needed.

Wingtra helped Water Solutions Pvt map all three islands in a single flight with WingtraOne and a Sony QX1 payload, meeting their 3 cm accuracy requirement and enabling frequent daily surveys. The team used Pix4D and other software to analyze orthophotos, point clouds, and difference models, improving decision-making while benefiting from fast deployment, low noise, stable flight in moderate winds, and easier logistics between islands.
