Gold Fields brings WingtraOne on board to survey its stockpiles and sites

Gold Fields Ghana Ltd., part of Gold Fields, needed a faster and more accurate way to survey massive mining concessions and stockpiles at its Tarkwa and Damang sites in Ghana. The company faced challenges with limited takeoff and landing space, dense vegetation, and the need to maintain high accuracy for valuable gold stock measurements. To address this, Gold Fields adopted WingtraOne drones from Wingtra.

Wingtra implemented WingtraOne VTOL mapping drones with Sony RX1R II cameras, giving Gold Fields the ability to take off and land anywhere, reduce fragment-based mapping, and complete full concession surveys more efficiently. The team now conducts quarterly surveys of the entire area in about a week, plus weekly stockpile and pit monitoring flights, consistently achieving better than 5 cm accuracy. Wingtra also delivered automated pre-flight checks, improved wind tolerance, and strong remote training and support through TerraCam, helping Gold Fields operate safely and with more confidence.
