Case Study: GeoplanTeam achieves precise vineyard surveying with WingtraOne by Wingtra

GeoplanTeam, a Swiss surveying and geoinformatics firm, needed to complete sensitive cadastral surveying for the vineyard terraces on the steep northern shore of Lake Biel in Western Switzerland. The challenge was difficult terrain, narrow access, irregular boundaries, and limited level space for takeoff and landing, all while maintaining the high accuracy required for reallocation and verification of vineyard plots, paths, and walls. Wingtra’s WingtraOne VTOL mapping drone was used for the project.

Wingtra provided GeoplanTeam with the WingtraOne, using its vertical takeoff and landing capability, long flight time, and 42 MP camera to survey the area efficiently from a small terrace launch site. The team mapped around 110 ha and collected nearly 5,000 orthophotos at 2.5–4 cm GSD, which were post-processed to delineate precise areas, pavements, stone walls, and paths. The official vineyard measurements were validated against GeoplanTeam’s results, helping satisfy stakeholders while supporting sustainable wine production and ecological protection.
