Drone mapping a high-profile snowboarding event in high winds

Drone Tech Imaging, a US Southwest survey and mapping firm led by Scott Northrop and his son Dalton, was tasked with mapping the Red Bull Natural Selection Snowboarding course in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The challenge was severe weather and strong winds at high altitude, which left very limited time to complete the mission.

Using WingtraOne from Wingtra with a Sony RX1R II camera, Drone Tech Imaging was able to map the course quickly and reliably, even at 8,000 feet AMSL in high winds. The team then expanded the mission to map the entire mountain down to the base, with WingtraOne delivering outputs that impressed the customer and helped complete work that quadcopters likely could not have handled.
