Chilean mining survey firm covers 1200 ha per week

VMS Estudios Topograficos, a Chilean mining survey firm, needed a reliable way to survey metallic and non-metallic mining sites, urban and industrial zones, and government land and flood-risk areas across Chile. To meet these demanding mapping needs, VMS adopted Wingtra’s WingtraOne drone solution, including flight planning software and high-resolution aerial data capture.

With WingtraOne from Wingtra, VMS gained stable flight lines, sharp imagery, and low-noise point clouds that reduced the need for image review and improved data confidence. Since April 2019, VMS completed 757 flights in 202 hours and achieved around 1,200 hectares surveyed per week, supporting open pit mines, volumetric projects, residual material deposits, stacking and leaching areas, and rubble dumps.
