UK Department for Work and Pensions meets Open Government Data challenge with SuperWEB2

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the UK's largest public service department, faced challenges in meeting its Open Government Data obligations. Its internal Tabulation Tool was restrictive and inflexible, preventing users from drilling down into data and limiting the depth of available analysis. To handle rising demand and prepare for the open data era, DWP sought a more powerful platform and selected SuperWEB2 from vendor WingArc.

WingArc's SuperWEB2, rebadged by DWP as Stat-Xplore, provided a flexible data discovery platform with robust privacy controls. The solution enabled users to generate their own statistical tables and drill down to local geographic levels. The results were significant: DWP now publishes statistics in half the time, has over 2,700 registered users, and has generated more than 40,000 tables. WingArc's platform successfully allowed the department to release higher volumes of data efficiently while strictly protecting individual identities.
