Case Study: Polaris Pharmacy Services achieves high-performance centralized network, automated failover and cost savings with Windstream Enterprise

A Windstream Enterprise Case Study

Preview of the Polaris Pharmacy Services Case Study

Windstream takes a pharmacy’s network from high maintenance to high performance

Polaris Pharmacy Services, a non-retail pharmacy serving long-term and post-acute care with 25 locations and about 2,100 employees, faced a patchwork of legacy MPLS networks, limited bandwidth, no automated failover, a risky single-site server setup, and an overburdened IT team. To centralize and modernize its infrastructure, Polaris engaged Windstream Enterprise for a digital transformation using SD‑WAN, virtual SD‑WAN and Cloud Connect, dual fiber active/active links, and the WE Connect management portal.

Windstream Enterprise deployed an SD‑WAN overlay with dual fiber active/active circuits, connected locations to geographically diverse Azure data centers via Cloud Connect, and provided the WE Connect single-pane-of-glass portal. The result was a unified network across all 25 sites with automated failover, higher bandwidth and uptime, significant cost savings from retiring expensive MPLS, avoided server capital expenses, improved business continuity, and freed IT resources to focus on strategic projects.
