SD-WAN improves network performance and the customer experience

James River Equipment (JRE), a John Deere equipment and tractor retailer with 50+ full-service stores and 1,800+ employees, was constrained by a decade-old converged MPLS network that could not keep up with increasing bandwidth needs, causing slow applications and a declining customer experience. After an initial do-it-yourself SD-WAN attempt, JRE engaged Windstream Enterprise and adopted Windstream Enterprise’s SD-WAN Concierge™ alongside its existing MPLS to address performance, uptime and limited in‑house IT resources.

Windstream Enterprise implemented a managed SD‑WAN overlay across existing MPLS and broadband circuits—migrating sites with typically only 15 minutes of downtime—resulting in increased bandwidth, improved application and voice performance, far fewer outages, and consistent live-rep availability during business hours. By delivering SD‑WAN as a managed service, Windstream Enterprise freed JRE’s IT team to focus on strategic initiatives and positioned the company for cloud migration and e‑commerce.
