Case Study: Ranger Energy Services achieves faster, more resilient, and secure networks with Windstream Enterprise SASE

A Windstream Enterprise Case Study

Preview of the Ranger Energy Services Case Study

Oil and gas company implements SASE to energize IT resiliency, connection speed and network security

Ranger Energy Services, a U.S. oil and gas services company with 25 locations and 2,000+ employees, was running legacy MPLS/point-to-point networks and a high-latency VPN that left them with substandard cybersecurity, limited visibility and an overburdened IT team. They engaged Windstream Enterprise to modernize their edge networking using a SASE solution that included SD-WAN, Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) ZTNA clients, Firewall as a Service (FWaaS), Secure Web Gateway (SWG) and access to Windstream Enterprise’s CSOC and WE Connect portal.

Windstream Enterprise replaced the legacy VPN and on‑prem firewalls with its SASE stack and SDP clients, routing traffic to regional PoPs, enabling co‑management via WE Connect and delivering centralized security and micro‑segmentation. The deployment—validated in a one‑site proof of concept and rolled out company‑wide within a week—yielded lower latency, more stable uptime, simplified management, proactive CSOC alerts and a significant reduction in trouble tickets, easing the load on Ranger’s IT staff.
