New York Bank Strengthens Bandwidth, Enhances Services with VMware SD-WAN

First National Bank of Long Island (First National Bank), a community-focused financial institution, needed to replace aging, slow T1 networks to support digital services, branch expansion and better customer experiences. To modernize its connectivity the bank selected VMware SD-WAN as a managed service delivered by partner Windstream Enterprise, aiming to boost bandwidth, centralize management and reduce downtime.

Windstream Enterprise deployed a fully managed solution—100 Mbps primary business internet with a secondary active‑active link, VMware SD-WAN across 44 locations, and the WE Connect portal (built on VMware SASE) for visibility and orchestration. The deployment replaced 1.5 Mbps T1s, delivered better than 98% uptime, enabled video collaboration and remote desktop access for lending partners, simplified global configuration changes, and produced about USD $80,000/year in alarm-line savings, demonstrating measurable operational and cost improvements.
