Calico - Customer Case Study

Calico, a specialty retail chain with 69 company and 10 franchise locations and 1,600 employees, was struggling with antiquated on‑premises PBX systems (causing 3–4 outages per month lasting up to a week), insufficient bandwidth from MPLS/T1 links, poor application performance and limited IT staff to manage multiple vendors. To address these issues they engaged Windstream Enterprise and adopted cloud and connectivity services including OfficeSuite UC, OfficeSuite HD Meeting, SD‑WAN Concierge plus broadband and LTE access.

Windstream Enterprise consolidated Calico’s communications under a managed service model, replacing legacy PBX with OfficeSuite UC, deploying OfficeSuite HD Meeting for remote collaboration, and implementing SD‑WAN Concierge with broadband/LTE failover and the WE Connect portal for visibility. The result: outages were eliminated, phone and collaboration services became reliable, stores experienced seamless failover (running for several days on wireless backup during a cable outage), IT overhead dropped, network and voice control improved, and Calico realized significant cost savings.
