Omron launches industrial PC control platform in 2016 with Wind River

Omron Corporation, a global leader in industrial automation, faced the challenge of meeting increasing customer demand for factory automation solutions that leverage data from interconnected machines. To drive this digital transformation, they needed to develop a new PC-based control solution that combined real-time automation with advanced data processing capabilities, a task for which they partnered with vendor Wind River.

Wind River assisted Omron by providing the operating systems, VxWorks and Wind River Linux, for their new IPC RTOS Controller. This solution enabled manufacturers to program real-time machine control while simultaneously executing data processing tasks. The result was the successful 2016 launch of Omron's industrial PC control platform, which positioned the company at the forefront of smart manufacturing by improving productivity and output quality through IoT connectivity and Big Data analytics, all while meeting strict performance and reliability standards.
