Calm Air Adds Aircraft and Expands Operation with WinAir

Calm Air, a regional Air Operator and AMO based in Winnipeg serving northern Manitoba and Nunavut, faced a growing need for a scalable maintenance tracking solution as it expanded from a fishing-charter base into a transport-category operator. In 2006 Calm Air selected WinAir’s aviation management software to replace its basic maintenance system and provide integrated maintenance and inventory control to support future fleet and base growth.

WinAir implemented advanced maintenance schedule management, an integrated maintenance‑to‑inventory link, a Tree View approach for component assemblies, and a custom printable technical-dispatch report. As a result Calm Air expanded from 3 to 6 staffed bases, imported two ATR aircraft types and now operates seven ATR 42s and five ATR 72s, while reducing paperwork errors and labor hours, improving audit compliance, and better tracking life‑limited components.
