Birmingham City University produces a two-version commemorative book with Wild Ilk for Sir Michael Balcon

Birmingham City University sought to create a commemorative coffee-table book from an exhibition honoring film pioneer Sir Michael Balcon. The challenge was to transform the existing materials into a visually appealing and well-structured narrative. They engaged the design studio Wild Ilk to develop the book's format, visual style, and overall narrative.

Wild Ilk worked closely with the university to craft a landscape-format book, taking typographic inspiration from source materials and creating a custom logo. They consulted on materials and finishing, resulting in an embossed cover with gold foil. Wild Ilk managed the printing on a tight schedule to produce two ultra-limited editions, a softcover and a case-bound hardcover, which were successfully presented at a private university event.
