A Wieden+Kennedy Case Study
The customer McDonald's partnered with the vendor Wieden+Kennedy to create a culturally relevant campaign that would resonate with an adult audience. The challenge was to reimagine the nostalgic experience of a Happy Meal for adults, infusing it with contemporary art and fashion to help create culture rather than just participate in it.
Wieden+Kennedy's solution was to collaborate with the streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market (CPFM) to launch the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box. This included a reimagined adult Happy Meal box, collectible figurines, an apparel line, a 360-commercial, and an art installation. The campaign successfully generated significant cultural buzz by democratizing high-end streetwear and making it accessible to McDonald's fans, with the commercial designed as an artistic piece to be rewatched multiple times. A portion of the proceeds were directed to the Virgil Abloh™ Post-Modern Scholarship Fund.
