Preem, Sweden’s largest fuel company (about 1,400 employees, accounting for roughly 80% of Swedish refinery capacity), needed to detect patterns and trends across a fast‑changing competitive landscape—disruptive technologies, climate change—and better align intelligence with long‑term strategy toward 2030. To meet this challenge, Preem engaged Wide Narrow for Strategic/Competitive Intelligence services to make the intelligence process more reliable and cost‑effective.

Wide Narrow implemented a dedicated Competitive Intelligence setup with two cross‑functional teams (Marketing & Sales; Strategy & Business Development), each 3–5 members spending ~2 hours/week, covering competitive landscape, disruptive tech and climate issues. Deliverables include monthly, quarterly and annual management reports, monthly team reports, weekly newsletter briefs and organization‑wide early warnings. As a result, Wide Narrow improved the quality and cost‑effectiveness of Preem’s analysis and significantly increased transparency and linkage between Competitive Intelligence, Strategic Planning and Business Planning.
