The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ), host of the 24th Annual SEJ Conference, needed to foster community discussion, give attendees easy access to event information, and provide practical logistics and supplementary materials for their five‑day meeting. To meet those goals, SEJ engaged Whova to deliver its mobile conference/event app, generating attendee profiles and surfacing agendas, networking options and on‑site information.

Whova created individualized professional profiles for 629 attendees and provided features like group discussions, a Logistics section (transportation, indoor maps, travel guide, dining details) and a Slide/Album for handouts and photos. The app drove strong engagement—77% of attendees used it, generating 11,439 total in‑app actions and 6,575 networking actions—and hosted record discussion participation; SEJ’s executive director praised Whova’s design, support and customization and indicated plans to work with Whova again.
