A Whova Case Study
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) faced the challenge of successfully transitioning its major Global Youth Summit to a fully virtual format. As their first event of this kind, they needed a platform to promote registration, manage an extremely large online audience across hundreds of sessions, and foster meaningful networking and engagement to avoid attendees feeling lost in a digital crowd. They turned to the event management platform Whova for a solution.
Whova provided tools to streamline promotion, registration, and agenda management through automated web pages. Their platform enabled IUCN to host numerous concurrent live-streamed sessions with integrated chat and Q&A, while facilitating networking through meet-ups, matchmaking, and a community board. Using Whova, the IUCN summit sold over 17,000 tickets and saw massive engagement, including over 44,000 messages exchanged, 60,000 community board posts, 20,000 photos shared, and 300 participant-organized meet-ups during the two-week event.
