Lodz University of Technology student Damian Kania partnered with WhoisXML API to support an engineering project focused on protecting home users from unsafe domains. His challenge was to build an affordable, low-maintenance DNS filtering system that could help nontechnical users stay safe online without requiring expensive infrastructure or advanced cybersecurity expertise.

WhoisXML API helped by providing Domain Reputation API and Web Categorization API, which Kania integrated into a custom JSON-based system. These tools let him analyze domain risk and categorize websites without heavy local processing, making the solution easier and cheaper to implement and maintain while improving blocking decisions, log analysis, and category-based filtering for home users.
