A Whispir Case Study
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) in Western Australia needed a faster, more streamlined way to deliver emergency alerts and warnings to the public. After a major bushfire and with the state’s frequent natural disasters, DFES was relying on a manual-heavy process that was time-consuming and cumbersome. It turned to Whispir and its emergency communications platform to create a single source of truth for warning information.
Whispir implemented the Emergency WA website and Critical Messaging System to automate and distribute alerts across the website, social media, RSS feeds, and stakeholder emails. The solution improved the speed and consistency of public notifications, supported WCAG AA compliant access, and was tested to handle up to 16 million daily site visits under extreme load. Since launch, the platform has recorded over 7.6 million interactions, helping DFES communicate more effectively when it matters most.
