Charles Sturt University, Australia’s largest regional university with 15 campuses and more than 17,000 campus-based students, needed a faster and more reliable way for students and staff to contact security in an emergency. Previously, security could only be reached through campus-specific phone numbers, which were easy to misdial or miss, especially for people who were off campus or in danger. Whispir helped address this with its MicroApp solution.

Whispir implemented “CSU Safe,” a MicroApp that gives users instant access to security on Android and iOS by texting their campus name and following simple prompts. The app lets users request urgent assistance, callback requests, security escorts, and after-hours support, while also sending location and phone details to security. The result was a convenient, secure, and rapid communication channel that removed the risk of human error and made it easier for staff and students to reach security quickly.
