Petals, formerly Silkflowers.com, needed a fast, visually rich ecommerce site that could handle complex, configurable products, manage promotions without programming, integrate with its order management system, and support both standard and freight shipping. Whirlwind Ecommerce was brought in to help migrate tens of thousands of products, customers, orders, categories, and pages from a custom platform while preserving the business’s unique merchandising and product presentation.

Whirlwind Ecommerce implemented a BigCommerce-based solution using the platform’s marketing tools, product configurability, ShipperHQ for freight handling, and a custom OMS integration via the BC/MOM API. They also built custom migration tools using the BigCommerce Management API to move legacy data safely and efficiently. The result was improved year-over-year ecommerce KPIs across the board, lower content management costs, streamlined order fulfillment, and significant savings in both cost and risk during migration.
