Union Bank uses agility and automation to rapidly deliver business-critical data marts

Union Bank faced a fragmented reporting environment and needed to treat data as a strategic corporate asset to improve regulatory reporting, compliance, and business analytics. Concerned that traditional data warehouse projects were slow, costly and brittle, the bank sought a faster, more flexible approach and selected WhereScape and its WhereScape RED automated development platform to accelerate delivery and improve metadata/lineage management.

WhereScape RED was used to rapidly scope, prototype and build a business-facing consumer-lending data mart on Microsoft SQL Server, automating data loading, transformations, dimension and aggregate generation, semantic layers and documentation. The result: Union Bank delivered the complex data mart in less than eight weeks versus an estimated six-to-eight months using conventional methods, gained automatic metadata and lineage for compliance, and can reprovision the mart to Greenplum with minimal effort — all enabled by WhereScape.
