Supporting Communities to Plan and Integrate Informal Neighbourhoods

SDI, a network of community-based organisations working across Africa, Asia and Latin America, needed a way to better plan and integrate informal neighbourhoods while making the process faster, simpler and more scalable. To strengthen its OpenReblock platform, SDI turned to WhereIsMyTransport and its mobility data to help understand how communities connect to the wider city.

WhereIsMyTransport provided mobility data that SDI integrated into OpenReblock, adding a crucial transport layer to neighborhood planning. This helped SDI visualize public transport links, support arguments for in-situ upgrading over eviction and relocation, and design more human-centred, inclusive plans with better access to services, emergency routes and city opportunities.
