Pura Bioglitter, a Brazilian small business founded by Frances Sansão and co-founder Luciana Duarte, creates biodegradable glitter to replace the plastic glitter that pollutes the ocean during Carnival. As customer demand grew quickly, they were overwhelmed with inquiries and struggled to stay organized while working from Frances’s living room. They turned to WhatsApp and the WhatsApp Business app to help manage their growing business.

With the WhatsApp Business app, Pura Bioglitter used labels to organize new customers, orders, and payments, and quick replies to respond immediately to proof of payment and other questions. WhatsApp helped the business become more efficient, increase sales by about 50 percent, and sell over 100 pounds of glitter at Carnival 2019, a 360 percent increase. Frances also estimated the company handled as many as 500 customer inquiries ahead of the festival, and the business planned to expand further year-round.
