Escola Radical, the surf school founded by Francisco “Cisco” Araña in Santos, Brazil, wanted to strengthen connection and community among its growing 50+ surf group. As the program expanded from 20 to 110 students, the challenge was helping participants build relationships beyond the weekly classes.

Using WhatsApp, the students created a group to share surf conditions, weather updates, poetry, and music, helping them stay engaged and feel like part of a family. The result was a stronger sense of belonging and support for older surfers, with WhatsApp helping connect students through community and motivation while they enjoyed the benefits of surfing together.
