TomTom, a global leader in navigation and mapping used by major carmakers and in millions of devices, faced the ongoing challenge of helping drivers find precise or previously unaddressed locations quickly and reliably—whether in dense city centers or remote areas. Clear, easy-to-use addressing for destinations like side doors, gates or parking spaces was needed to improve navigation accuracy and user experience.

To solve this, TomTom is integrating what3words into its consumer and automotive navigation offerings in the second half of this year. The integration gives drivers simple, memorable 3-word addresses to discover, share and navigate to exact locations, extending TomTom’s reach to unaddressed places and demonstrating its commitment to adopting practical addressing technology.
