Supporting the visually impaired with what3words and Seeing Assistant Move

Transition Technologies, a Poland-based developer of assistive apps used by tens of thousands worldwide, created Seeing Assistant Move to help visually impaired people plan routes and get location updates while walking, driving or using public transport. A major challenge was unreliable or missing street addresses in many countries—about 75%—which made it hard to ensure users arrived at the right building or entrance.

Seeing Assistant Move integrated what3words so every 3m x 3m location has a simple, memorable three-word address (available in Polish), making precise navigation possible even where traditional addressing is absent. The integration enables accurate routing to exact entrances, meeting points or festival tents, supports voice input for faster use, and improves independence and confidence for visually impaired users by reliably getting them to the right spot.
