Solomon Islands Postal Corporation now delivers to 3 word addresses

Solomon Islands Postal Corporation (Solomon Post) has adopted what3words as its national addressing standard to tackle major delivery challenges. The country of 992 islands had no standardized addressing, forcing residents to use central PO boxes and sometimes travel up to 95 km to collect mail, while many deliveries failed to reach recipients, increasing costs for the postal service and communities.

By integrating what3words’ precise three-word addresses, Solomon Post can now locate homes exactly and deliver mail to front doors for the nation’s 642,000 residents. The change — the sixth country globally and the second in the South Pacific to adopt what3words — gives postal teams modern tools to improve reliability, reduce costs, and create new economic and community opportunities, according to Deputy CEO Alfred Ghemu.
