what3words partnered with the City of Ulaanbaatar to improve manaikhoroo.mn, the city’s public service map. Although the map already contained detailed locations for hospitals, utilities and government offices, residents still struggled to find places because few streets have names—particularly in the Ger districts—so traditional address searches and postal codes were ineffective.

The solution was to integrate what3words into the Manaikhoroo search, assigning every 3×3 m square a unique three‑word address. Residents can now enter or discover a building’s three‑word address on the map and use the free what3words app to navigate to an exact location, making municipal services and city assets far easier to find.
