Safe Software’s FME spatial data transformation platform needed to add support for what3words so users could work more easily with location data across different formats. The challenge was helping geospatial teams encode and decode what3words addresses without writing code, while fitting into existing FME workflows.

what3words was integrated into FME Desktop, FME Server, and FME Cloud through custom transformers in the Transformer Gallery. This let users convert 3 word addresses to and from latitude and longitude in just a few clicks, improving usability and making location data easier to integrate and share across teams.
