READ International is a UK-born NGO now based in Tanzania that works with young local volunteers to rehabilitate school libraries and stock them with donated books—1.4 million books donated to date and 72 libraries created. A persistent challenge has been locating and delivering books to remote schools that lack reliable address systems.

To solve this, READ trained volunteers to use the what3words app to navigate to existing libraries and capture three‑word addresses for new sites; local drivers also use those what3words coordinates for deliveries. The approach has enabled accurate navigation and more reliable delivery of books and magazines to rural libraries.
