what3words partnered with Littlegig, a two-day music festival near Cape Town, to tackle a familiar festival problem: poor signage and spotty phone service that left attendees getting lost, missing gigs, or struggling to reunite with friends and find facilities.
Organisers labeled all key sites with unique three-word addresses (for example ///zone.nipped.lines for the entrance and ///free.once.jockeys for the info booth); attendees entered these into the free what3words app to get turn-by-turn directions via Google Maps, HERE or Waze. The system helped campers locate tents easily, sped up crew responses, and significantly reduced time and frustration from getting lost.
