Exploring the great outdoors with what3words and Locus Map

Locus Map, a leading Android app for outdoor navigation used by hikers, cyclists and sailors, faced frustrations with sharing and remembering precise locations: GPS coordinates are hard to recall and many places lack conventional addresses. Users needed a simpler, more reliable way to mark and communicate exact spots—especially offline and off the beaten track.

Locus Map integrated what3words, which gives every 3 m Ă— 3 m square a unique, memorable three-word address available in multiple languages and usable offline. The app now lets users search three-word addresses and recognise them from the clipboard, making it much easier to navigate to, save and share precise locations and enhancing the user experience for exploration and adventure.
